Title : DUSSEHRA ASSEMBLY

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashmi, is a major Indian festival celebrated on the tenth day of Ashvin month according to the Hindu calendar. The day culminates a 9 day fasting period of Navratri in the Hindu culture. It also coincides with immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga. Dussehra celebration spreads the message of the victory of good over evil. De Indian Public School celebrated Dussehra with a lot of fervor and ardor. The cultural program began by a bhajan “Om Shri Ram” and a speech on Durga Pooja and its importance. This was followed by an enlightening poem on Dussehra. A short knowledgeable story on the life of Ravan was the highlight of the programme. The chanting of soothing notes of music captivated everyone. Students were adorned in attractive outfits for the day to perform the great epic Ramayana in musical form where they were dressed up as lord Rama, Lakshman, Sita, Ravan, Vanar etc.
The school in its endeavour to do away with single use of plastic constructed Ravan made up of plastic and other waste material. The school did not burn the effigy so as to protect the environment. Instead, it will be sent to the recycling unit. The Principal of the school Ms. Seema Awasthi along with the Managing Director Mr. Sanjeev Gupta facilitated the shining stars of the school with medals and certificates who secured positions in various zonal competitions. The position holders are as follows:
Arnav Ambastha(VIII) secured III position in Zonal Semi Classical Music Competition, Kavya (VIII) secured II position in Zonal Hindi Extempore Competition, Tanvi Nagpal (VIII) secured III position in Zonal English Poetry Recitation, Students of Nukkad Natak secured I position at Zonal level, Shivangi Mathus (XII) and Aarav Pandey (VII) secured I Position in Zonal English Extempore, Lakshay Mittal (XI) was awarded for securing three position in Zonals Athletic and Skating competitions, Divyansh Yadav (V) secured I position in Zonal Skating Competition, Riyansh Dahiya (II) secured I position in Zonal Skating Competition, Parul Garg of class I-B was facilitated with a Lucky draw prize of Scholastic Book Fair. Shivangi Mittal(XII), Shrey Bansal (XI) and Tanish Gupta (XI) won Intra School ‘Biz-Quiz’ and were facilitated with certificates and gifts.
The programme concluded with motivational words of the Principal of the school followed by a pledge to do away single use of plastic. This assembly was an ideal platform to convey the essence of Dussehra to the students.
